Baby Boy Blume came into the world as a TINY litle guy!
He was 'sunny side up', a cord wrapped around his neck, and being pulled out with suction by the dr....Wouldnt you be screaming like this too?! :)
The kids came to visit and LOVE on thier Baby Brudder!!
That is always the BEST!
Big sister can still hardly put him down. She is so PROUD!
We went through that afternoon and the night with a few incidents of him throwing up...and his skin was turning a shade of grey....so by the morning they had taken him in to be looked at and within those few minutes he threw up a few more times.
At that point we went from "your baby is going to be monitored in the NICU for a few hours" to "Well see how he is in 3 days and at that point well assess him again"!!! WHAT?!!!
When the NICU dr was talking to me after that all I heard was the Charlie Brown teacher noise in my head.
I couldnt ask him any questions because I just heard my baby was trapped for 3 days and I was about to burst into tears...(which I did once he left) :)
We decided to not stay another night since I had no baby in my room and all they do is harrass you all night...so we packed up our stuff....and went and visited our little baby boy in the NICU.
You have to scrub in for 3 minutes like Greys Anatomy to enter into the NICU.
The smell of that soap is something that will be forever ingrained in my memory.
Our baby boy who STILL DIDNT HAVE A NAME was warming in the incubator and settling into his new home for the next few days.
They were Giving him antibiotics and fluids and monitoring his food intake and making sure he kept it down. He was now down to weighing 5 lbs 5 oz.
I walked out to go home and my heart was breaking that we were leaving our baby 'alone' in the hospital and I felt like we were abandoning him. It was awful.
But I knew he was being watched by wonderful ladies in the NICU too...so
we went home to sit on the couch. :) WIERD!
We visited on thursday and held our little love.
It was so sad to think that the only time he was being held was when they fed him and then he just was wrapped in his bed to sleep.
We officially decided on his name Thursday.
Miles Watson Blume.
We like it :)
Friday night was the hardest to see him.
They had put this feeding tube in in case he wouldnt finish his bottle.
His hands were now all black and blue from the IV.
It broke my heart to see him like this.
I went home and went straight to bed praying that we would be able to take him home in the next day or 2.
They were now waiting and watching for significant weight gain or at least back up to his birth weight to go home.
By Saturday they had upgraded him to a crib and he was VERY close to coming home!
We prayed for weight gain (which is something you normally dont pray for!) :)
Sunday morning we called to get the 'update' and the DR had released him to GO HOME!!
BEST WORDS I had heard all week over the phone!
He had gained 3 oz overnight and weighed 5 lbs 14 oz!!
THE KIDS WERE SOOOOOO EXCITED!!
We love our sweet Miles!!
He had a rough first week here, but I'm sure that from here on out, its smooth sailing!! :)

While Im inside w/the baby the kids made a MUD pool and flung MUD EVERYWHERE!! 
Rest time on the couch all day with my 3 kids!! Loved it.
